Response to Intervention Partners

The Partnership's Project Director and Consultants are available to help assist districts in California and nationally implement RTI. The amount of time and compensation is negotiated with each district, although districts may sign up for a flat fee based on the number of psychologists that participate in training. Project Director
Mike Vanderwood, Ph.D.
Mike is an Assistant Professor in the School Psychology program at the University of California, Riverside. He has worked as a school psychologist practicing RTI at Heartland Area Education in central Iowa. He also worked for the Iowa Department of Education as a Consultant for Assessment and Decision Making. He was the Co-Primary Investigator of an OSEP funded grant to implement and evaluate RTI in Milwaukee, WI. His primary interests are early literacy assessment and intervention for all students, including English Language Learners.
Consultants
Frank Gresham, Ph.D.
Frank is the Program Director of the School Psychology program at UCR. He is a nationally known speaker and advocate for the RTI model. He has published several articles about the utility of RTI for students who are Learning Disabled and those who have serious behavioral challenges. He wrote a "white paper" for the LD summit about RTI and presented to the President's Commission on Special Education.
